Comedy is a universal language, hence the roots of film history in silent comedy. Flash forward 100+ years and the genre has split into a myriad of sub-genres: slapstick comedy, screwball comedy, black comedy, anarchic comedy, rom-coms (to begin). The takeaway? We can't live without these films helping us to find the humor in it all.
