Terry Gilliam has directed some of the most compelling fantasy films of all time. His vividly imagined tales have taken moviegoers to alternate realms, dystopian futures, and magical realist worlds. Gilliam’s escapist movies also adhere to a kind of dream logic that follows in the footsteps of legendary psychologist Carl Gustav Jung.  This video essay analyzes Gilliam’s work through the prism of Jungian concepts of individuation and personal unconscious.
