Jesse Eisenberg: From Zuckerberg To Luthor
Whether a real-life billionaire or a comic book villain, he's playing complex characters.
Jesse Eisenberg got his start as a young actor in dramas like Rodger Dodger, The Emperor’s Club, and The Squid and the Whale. But he broke through in 2009 with Adventureland and Zombieland, two very different comedies that showed his talent for playing neurotic but charming protagonists. His best skill as an actor is in revealing the flaws of good people—The End of the Tour, American Ultra—or the reliability of characters like Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network or Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Though he still amps up the neurosis when necessary, he’s demonstrated range and nuance across a broad range of roles, making him an unexpectedly versatile actor.
