Sometimes the most important “casting” isn’t the actors.
He prefers to forgo the “possessory credits” that put his name front and center at the beginning of his movies, and he’s done so much highly varied work over his long and astonishingly prolific career that his style (and he has a lot of style) has come to be considered highly adaptable rather than highly recognizable.
