This year, don’t limit yourself to indulging in Hallmark specials or an umpteenth viewing of A Christmas Story — there are plenty of cinematic holiday spirits that aren’t at all saccharine or sentimental! After all, there’s something about sticking a Christmas tree into an otherwise un-jolly plot (like the acclaimed, recently released, Good Time, for example) that makes for a specific kind of ironic satisfaction. Plus, a holiday backdrop is a free pass to make these movies an offbeat seasonal tradition! This video is a merry celebration of movies that may take place at “the most wonderful time of the year,” but almost exclusively feature characters gunning hard (sometimes literally) for the naughty list.
