A film festival can be a stressful time for filmmakers - all the hype, the publicity, and most of all, the judgment. Not only will critics and audiences judge your film, but also if your film is entered into competition, an actual jury will judge your film. The jury may consist of critics, directors, producers, actors, and more. But at Cannes, these juries tend to consist of the finest talent in all of cinema. Each year, Cannes appoints a star-studded jury with one jury president who leads the way. More often than not, this jury president is going to be rather intimidating. Past names include Scorsese, Coppola, Coen, Tarantino, Campion, Lynch, Cronenberg, Kar-Wai, Eastwood, and Spielberg. So yeah. No big deal. Try not to freak out.
