Filmmaker and artist Apichatpong Weerasethakul visited Colombia recently, for a retrospective of his work at the Cartagena International Film Festival. His work is an invitation to experience a cinema tainted with new possibilities. It's a universe where personal memories delicately intercept narratives of his country. Where an unpretentious mysticism interacts with the everyday life of the characters.  Where improvised dialogues, mostly among non-actors, enrich the honesty of the fiction. Where dreams, nature, buildings, monks, soldiers, illnesses, reincarnation, ghosts, eroticism, and even people exercising, come together under a particular sensibility.
