Summary

Written, directed, produced and edited by Katya Bankowsky, Shadow Boxers was filmed between 1994 and 1999 beginning with the New York City Golden Gloves then moving into the professional ranks as it chronicles the rise of undefeated Dutch boxing sensation Lucia Rijker. As the powerful and articulate Rijker moves ever closer to her world title fight, Shadow Boxers smashes preconceptions on every level revealing the beauty and brutality of the sport through the eyes of the introspective fighter.
