I love this movie, and even own my copy, something I can say about very few of the movies I have found on here. Even if you haven’t heard about Zemsta it is a classic and very Polish. If you took Romeo and Juliet, and mushed it up with A Midsummer’s Night Dream, threw in some typical Polish archetypes; like Henryk Sienkiewicz’s Zagłoba (Polanski’s character), the feuding poor (but once great) noble families fighting a pigheaded, but futile war over an outwardly absurd piece of property, a beautiful widow, and shake up the bag … you will probably have a good idea of what will happen. If you want to get overly analytical you can draw many parallels with Poland itself and this movie/play, but that should be left for a longer forum.

Striking and quite quickly unwatchable because of its histrionic overplaying and seemingly inconsequential action.
One of my favourites also.
This film seemed like a stage play, not a movie. It was hard to stay immersed in it.
rented Zemsta on the recommendation of a friend. I loved it...the acting, characters,
Sets and costuming.
