A tale that comes straight out of a classic EC horror comic, courtesy of Mr. Bert I. Gordon, semi-master of low-budget, rear-projection effects, comes off a little too clean and a little too long. Back in the day, this would have worked better in the half hour format of old anthology shows like "Thriller", "One Step Beyond," and of course, "The Twilight Zone." Richard Carlson brings a certain energy to the screen as the murderous heel you almost feel sorry for--but ultimately don't. Ultimately, it is what it is, a forgotten second feature from the glory days of the drive-in. Pass the Junior Mints.

Our hero, so to speak, is about to marry a hottie old enough to be his daughter, but they are in love and her father is filthy rich, however Tom (our crappy hero) had been fooling around with floozie Vi another young-enough-to-be-my-daughter who is bonkers about him and threatens to spill the beans to his finance unless he stays with her. They are on the outside of the top of a lighthouse with weak railing. Get the picture? Sort of like the scene in the Hitchcock thriller where the guy is atop the arm of the Statue of Liberty, and this time there is a big chance to save her, but no valiant attempt to at all, so, kerplop, into the frothy sea below. Well, her ghost comes back to haunt him with seaweed and LP records, night and day mares, and fouls things up with the finance and wedding, He is Tormented (alas, a movie title!) As if that isn't enough, then blackmail, then trinkets, then a flat out murder and the little girl. This pot is really boiling now. Tom and the little girl end up on the lighthouse just like in the beginning and Vi's ghost appears and well, guess who goes off the railing? Oh, how clever. Improbable but not quite laughable. 3.126 stars out of 5.
