Three Worlds2012

  • 3.8
Al, a young man from a modest background, is ten days away from marrying the daughter of his boss, along with succeeding him as the head of the car dealership where Al has been working for most of his life. One night, while coming back drunk from his bachelor party, Al commits a hit-and-run and is urged to leave the scene of the crime by his two childhood friends who are with him in the car. What he does not know is that the entire accident was witnessed from a balcony by a young woman, Juliette. She not only called 911, but also helped to contact the victim's wife, Véra, a Moldavian illegal immigrant whom she decides to help and keep company at the hospital. But when Juliette recognizes Al as the reckless driver in the hospital corridor, she is unable to denounce him. After gradually getting to know each other, Juliette becomes a mediator between Al and the unsuspecting Véra. Things get complicated when romantic feelings between Juliette and Al start to arise, and Véra finally finds out about their secret relationship.

I loved this film. The plot is taut, and every time you think you know what is coming next, there is a twist. These are real people caught in the conflicting three worlds of the victim, the witness, and the victimizer. Although it is a thriller, there is little violence and no murders; instead you end up asking yourself: what would I do in this situation? The directing is excellent, I admired how the director worked in the motor car theme. All in all, it was an excellent movie about a plausible situation with many nuances that we might all find ourselves in. Give it a try!

Bizarre story, main characters that are not very likable. Not sure what the point is here.

I really enjoyed this film. I saw it before it showed up on Fandor, and I was delighted to see it selected here. I think it deserves a wider distribution. The acting is truly excellent, and the subject matter is spot-on, especially with the flood of immigrants descending on Europe right now. I can't think who would not enjoy this film. The subject is captivating, there is enough of a romantic back-story to keep it interesting, and discrimination and rage underpinning the story definitely drives the viewer along. As good a topical film as I've seen in the last few years.

You find yourself as torn as the protagonist, not knowing what the right thing to do is -- but this is a very good story about what happens when you inadvertently get involved, become witness and have to take a stand. A pretty entertaining suspense with contemporary themes.

Expertly crafted thriller about a tragic accident, and the lives that are thrown into a frenzy as a result. The movie moves at a quick pace, captivating the viewer with likable characters, creating a sense of sadness and sorrow for all involved.

It kept my attention throughout and even my expectations bubbling until the last 20 mins or so where a majority of the important characters just deflate like defective, unrealistic balloons.

LIKED IT A LOT

C'est fantstique. A well acted french movie about a man whose life becomes very difficult to manage--mainly due to the turmoil inside his own soul.

could not like it because, it was not in ENGLISH I WANT ENGLISH MOVIES.

tragic circumstances that forever change people's lives. . .kept thinking how I rarely encounter people with a conscience of any kind & the entire film depicted the deepest of scars created in the main characters because of a foolish, random accident that happens in America continuously. Police killing young black men then justifying the "incident" as "self defense". To compare the 2 countries is like black & white, night & day. I'm ashamed of America today.

brilliant!
