One more instance of a people deeply embedded in ancient culture suppressed by geopolitics,
and derided for their non-progressive views. America did it to the native Americans, Australia
to the Aborigines, and so on... The world appears to be somewhat more sensitive to this issue.
But ultimately the powerful always justify their viewpoint, and actions. It is only in vibrant
Democracies that brute power can be diluted, and turned back.
A well presented film, that clearly addresses the issues. Not just the China/Tibet problem,
but equally important the conflict within the Tibetan diaspora.
The sun is behind the clouds, and the clouds are behind the fog and mist: The irony and tragedy that the tenets of Buddhism and the epitome of peace and compassion in the Dalai Lama should be oppressed along with a displaced nation of Tibetans. The film shows a comprehensive picture of the complex dynamics of the Tibet crisis between Tibetans for the incapacity for His Holiness to act as the political leader that they need. The footage of Desmond Tutu's speech on the Tibet Crisis encompasses it all. A follow up documentary is needed.
Brilliant, fair minded and balanced coverage of a complex political stalemate. Superb, highly recommended viewing.
