This film figured large in my childhood imagination. So neat to see it here on Fandor. Looking forward to foisting it upon my daughters.
This is an old favorite of mine. It came out in 1971. I was 20 years old and in college. It's point was pretty simple yet profound for the time and for my age. -- a lot of societal upheaval, racial unrest, protests, counterculture, trying to be different and trying to fit in at the same time. It's still an important message for current times when so many people draw up sides and see diversity as a threat.
A little predictable and formulaic ... not quite "pointless"... but not particularly inventive either.
tedious, did not enjoy
I remember watching this many many years ago. It's not a particularly profound message that it leaves behind but it's a cute story that children and adults can enjoy.
In my late teens as a hippie I did find this film profound. And I believe it was a big part of who I became. Watching it again was a dream come true.
Thankyou
Nice to see it again after all these years. The Point is a long-time favorite of mine, with a lot to say about our society.
