It's simple, touching, and features a fantastic, emotional performance by Blanche Sweet. It also features a great performance by another Griffith player Joseph Graybill, as Blanche's "the stranger." Unfortunately, within a year of the film's release, Graybill would be dead. A great glimpse at the touching simplicity of Griffith's films before he began expanding into features.

If I could give this short little film another star I would. Everything Griffith and his company does is so good. The photography, the performances, the themes, the attention to detail in the costuming and camera setups. Blanche Sweet is remarkable in this film.
A very complexly emotional performance by Blanche Sweet.
A touching performance from Blanche Sweet in a later Biograph one-reel short. It's Griffith's simpler films like this that frankly hold up better than his more pretentious later feature films.
