The Other Also1997
A slow, meditative piece of visual music commissioned by the Paris Gallery of the Foundation Cartier for their group show, "Amours." Different artists, filmmakers and writers were asked to make something treating the concept of "amour" (or "love"). Hal Hartley decided to treat that aspect of love which is charity and deconstructed the well known phrase from the gospel of Mark regarding "turning the other cheek."

It's as if a Modigliani painting came to life for a few minutes to meditate on a passage from the Gospel of Mark.

This boils down cinema to its essence: a frame, light, and movement within the frame. In this sense it could not possibly be more in focus.
Watch a second time with the sound muted.
ART!!!
Out of focus annoying visual and annoying voice speaking gibberish. Redeeming theme that a normal person can understand? None. Phoney Intellectuals might love this so they can look down their noses at people who "don't understand" this like me.
