This is a documentary in which the Israeli military judges (for the most part) talk about their role in enforcing military law in the occupied Palestinian territories. While the Jews and the settlers avail themselves of civil law, legislated by a Parliament composed of their elected representatives, the Palestinians exist under military law which is decided solely by the military as a series of administrative orders which can be changed at a moments notice by the military commanders. House demolitions are legal, administrative arrests without charges, bail, or a hearing, are legal. In the military courts, the defendant has no right to see the accuser, or to even see the evidence against him. And, guess what the basis is for this military law: Israeli security. I cannot help but wonder, if the Jews did not brutally oppress the Palestinians with a view to taking their land, maybe the Jews would not have to be so concerned about their security. Surely the prejudiced legal system illustrated in this documentary does not lead to a peaceful settlement of this conflict.

Intelligent, thought-provoking, honest. Among the best.
