Thirty-eight-year-old bodybuilder Dennis would really like to find true love. He has never had a girlfriend and lives alone with his mother in a suburb of Copenhagen. When his uncle marries a girl from Thailand, Dennis decides to try his own luck on a trip to Pattaya. Knowing that his mother would never accept another woman in his life, he lies and tells her that he is going to Germany. Dennis has never been out traveling before and the hectic Pattaya is a huge cultural shock for him. The intrusive Thai girls give big bruises to Dennis' naive picture of what love should be like, and he is about to lose hope when he unexpectedly meets the Thai woman Toi.

Great film. There are so many emotions and feelings running underneath the surface, like an earthquake about to erupt.

I quite enjoyed this movie for a number of reasons. I too married a Thai lady and have spent much time over the last 2 decades in Thailand and it is also a meaningful film for people like me. The characters were all very real and very well developed, wonderful acting as well. I particualrly enjoyed the sober, subtle, tender approach to the topic that of course has been treated in a more or less farcical manner by Hollywood and other mainstream media, that is the topic of western men going to Thailand.

At times this film showed some tender moments, and the character really evoked a lot of sympathy. The best thing about this film was that it wasn't predictable or cliche, and even though this character had his unique condition, the story was believable. It was clear he got a kick out of saying, in his accent "I'm a body builder..."

A very sweet movie :)
