A charming tale of a proud yet humble veteran and the brave women who rallied behind him in his quest to do good for the village with his long awaited pension. It not only extols the resilience of the people of the village, but it also exposes the disturbing irony of fighting for a nation that robbed some of its soldiers of their country's independence and robbed them yet again by treating them as second class citizens in the aftermath of the war.
