This is a well acted film with very high production values. It seemed like an authentic depiction of the time period, and racism against indigenous people. It was interesting to experience a story regarding history and culture of Sweden on film. The cinematography was excellent.

An emotionally devastating portrayal of Indigeneity and the trauma of assimilation. Internalized racism is a theme that looms large, but it finds its best expression in its subtler moments: one sister tries to get the other to bathe in the river with her; "you can't smell it on yourself," she says. The violence is quiet, methodical, and objective - like the disciplinary apparatus that produces it - and it would not have the same impact without the nuanced performances of real-life sisters Mia Erika and Lene Cecilia Sparrok.

Heavy. What to do with life? This one was decisive and recognized the consequences. But she lived life as she wanted to. I wish I could do that.
