Parting Glances1986

  • 4.1
Heroic, funny and romantic, PARTING GLANCES is a triumph for everyone who has ever been in love, straight or gay. PARTING GLANCES, a pioneering film of gay cinema, is about the loyalties of friendship and the vicissitudes of romantic love. It's about the relationship between gays and straights. And it's about how we all try to do our jobs, be there for our friends and keep a love affair going, all at the same time.

"A glimpse into a gay community just beginning to deal with its decimation by AIDS, as well as a strong performance by a very young Steve Buscemi. Sadly, Sherwood’s promising career would be cut short itself by the disease." - Steven Erickson, Keyframe

Steve Buscemi at his nascent best. Powerful, dynamic film.

Thirty years later, in a very post-Parting Glances world, I am reminded how panic-stricken the world was when AIDS was new. I love how movies can capture the moment better than any documentary. It totally rings true to that moment in 1985 when it was just terrible to hear that you would die of it. It seemed so final, momentarily! Great movie if you want to sense what young people were feeling back then. This is one of Steve Buscemi's first movies and already he stands out. I was glad to see it again.

Fascinating for who's in it, for its structuring, its pacing. Memorable.

This is a humorous and delightful movie. The charactors were well developed and portrayed well by the cast. I enjoyed the laughing it caused me and recommend it to anyone

Beautiful. Funny. Sad. Artistically and poignantly very 80s. Touched me to the core.

A wonderful relatable film.

I ENJOYED THE MOVIE WHEN IT CAME OUT YEARS AGO AND STILL ENJOYED THE MOVIE NOW. I WOULD GIVE THE MOVIE A FOUR STAR RATING.

HAD NO IDEA WHAT THIS MOVIE WAS ABOUT
