Beautiful.
Bleak man bleak! Nadine Nortier carries the day. Bresson never fails to deliver. How many lives have been lived as this one depicted?
Had to bail early.
Mouchette, despondent and irreverent from being pushed around, impoverished and neglected -- and ultimately she is betrayed and defiled. This is an amazing character portrayal in this film, which delves into a deep description of her pain and anger, when she hardly utters a word through many of the scenes. The symbolism of mud, fire, rain, snares, traps are very effective in this story and visually. In the end she acts out of self preservation as much as to escape the loneliness and misery around her.
Fair
