LABOR DAY, EAST CHICAGO is, as one might expect, Tom Palazzolo's documentary of Labor Day festivities in the blue-collar East Side of Chicago. Organized by the East Side Lions Club, Labor Day's 1978 celebrations included amateur boxing, clowns and the crowning of Miss East Side 1978 from among her subjects. Please note that the source for this film includes intermittent digital artifacts. It is presented here in the best transfer currently available. - Tom Fritsche

I'm fascinated by home movies - particularly those that seem to have no particular agenda. Labor Day is this endless loop of 50's and 60's Chicago culture, which is such a piece of Americana. My only beef with any of these shorts is that their not short enough...
