I Own a Carousel2011

  • 3.7
I own a carousel. I keep it indoors, in the dark. There are no eyes to see it, no children to ride it. I own the size, presence and weight of it. I own the stress, the power and the idea of it. I did not make it, I do not enjoy it, I own it.

Felker clearly understands the tone that is developed in this short piece. The film is succinct and knows what it is. It does not waste time on aimless wandering away from the tone, nor does it overstay its welcome. Felker takes full advantage of the light and contour of the subject matter. I also appreciate the depth that is created by the overlapping images and sounds. Felker seems to understand the power of short film and utilizes in a way that few can.
