An early Stan Laurel role as a put-upon man just hoping to relax who is invited over to a good-natured-but-thoughtless man's house to stay after Stan misses his train. Both the journey to the house and his stay there become an ever-escalating ordeal. His suffering is redeemed when he meets the uptight neighbor's daughter. The message seems to be "do the best you can in the face of situations you are ill-prepared to handle and be open to finding the rose among all the thorns."
