A woman arrives at the property of a reclusive Scottish famer to work as his housekeeper. Paid near-starvation wages, she continues working day and night, hoping to use her savings to ensure a bright future for her ten-year-old daughter. Touched by her diligence, the farmer slowly falls in love with the woman, and after seeing her and her child through the torturous Wyoming winter, he marries her (but their union gets off to a shaky start and threatens to buckle, thanks to several unforeseen casualties).

Beautiful film in many ways -- lovely scenery, fine acting, a good story which gives a good insight into a time when life was a lot more appreciated than it is today.

SPOILER alert: A snapshot of life during homesteading in the West.

It wasn't entirely clear to me why, after 10 years of living on his land, Clyde hadn't built some kind of snow fence. I'm sure 2 winters - let alone 10 - in Wyoming would teach anyone that barriers are necessary during those intense winters.

Life reduced to its most basic elements, made clear for all to witness. Fine acting, in

beautiful country. Time changes nothing, but the milieu.

I enjoy it very much

Wonderful movie. Super actors. A great film for the entire family.
