Greek Pete2009

  • 3.2
GREEK PETE gives us a glimpse into the world of Pete, a very popular escort voted "Best Escort" at the "World Escort Awards" in Los Angeles in 2008. We meet Pete prior to his fame when he arrives in London with the hope of increasing his business as an escort. All he wants is a nice flat in London, a decent laptop and some good promotional pictures to help him keep his trade. The film allows us an intimate peek into Pete's world, his friends, his tricks and his hopes. GREEK PETE is a fictional representation of this world. The process blurs the boundary between fiction and documentary, giving authentic and intimate insights into the boys' lives, their friends, relationships and clients. Honest, non-judgmental, the film aims to create a portrait of a culture normally hidden from view.

You'd think a film like this would be sexy, but while this guy is appealing, the more you get to know him and his escorting cohort, the more the masks fall away and you see the unmoored, unsophisticated and young crowd like an endearing and exasperating group of kids cobbling along in life. It's a living.

It was a bit difficult for an American to understand a lot of the boy's thick Cockney/English accents, however I did enjoy the visuals!!! Pete is a very likeable character and it is sad that the film, as his life will no doubt, ended on a rather realisticly sad note. Considering the small budget I'm sure they had, the film seems well directed and the photography and editing was first rate.

Don't bother................. Unless you are working on a paper for your cultural anthro. class....

A lot can be said about this rather simple looking film. While watching, I had so many negatives running through my mind; bad film quality, uncomfortable/awkward scenes, random film shots. However, as the movie progressed it all comes together by the end and these initial negatives give the film authenticity. You believe that these are real characters dealing with real things.

The main character is actually really likable. The thing that I liked most about the movie is being able to see someone else's lifestyle. Im sure we all wonder how everyone else in the world lives and how others deal with things. Ive never been to London so it was neat seeing it through this point of view.

Overall, I wouldn't say that the film is great. I found myself being distracted throughout the film by my phone or I would just have it on in the background. By the end though, all the loose pieces do come together to create a decent (and sad but realistical) ending that emulates life.

not for me

love it and thought it was shot really well, amazing to catch all the sensitivity and the dynamics o what that life requirers

Only watched first 5 minutes.

Interesting, but reminded me more of Gus Van Sant's work on My Own Private Idaho, using real escorts / rentboys. I liked the unconsciousness of the camera; no one seemed interested in playing for it, which is rare for non-actors.

darn good!

Good story and indeed provocative characters feeling comfortable in this lifestyle,

Sexy!

closed captioning would have helped - all British movies should be closed captioned

interesting to say the least, a bit like Anderson Cooper follows the primo rent boy

I enjoyed it. It was a little different. It is hard to find LBGT movies and Fandor seems

to have a different selection than other suppliers

I FOUND THIS FILM TO BE HOT. SADLY I COULD SEE THE SADNESS IN HIS EYES BECAUSE HE HAD TO SELL HIS BODY TO MAKE A LIVING. IT WAS GOOD TO SEE THAT HE HAD A LOVE INTEREST. IT APPEARED THAT HE TRULY LOVED THE YOUNG MAN THOUGH HE WAS ANNOYED BECAUSE OF HIS LAZZINESS ABOUT BECOMING INDEPENDENT BY GETTING A JOB OR GETTING INTO ESCORTING TO MAKE MONEY BECAUSE HE COULD NOT TAKE CARE OF HIM PLUS HANDLE THE EXPENSES OF HAVING A PLACE TO LIVE FOOD TO EAT ETC... EVEN THOUGH HE HAD THROWN HIM OUT AT THE END OF THE FILM HE WAS BACK PROVING THAT HE STILL LOVED HIM. WHEN HE CAME BACK FROM LA AFTER WINNING THE CONTEST AGAIN YOU COULD SEE THE SADNESS IN HIS EYES. IN REALITY LIVING THAT TYPE OF LIFESTYLE DOES TAKE AWAY PIECES OF YOUR SOUL. IN THE END IT IS A PAINFUL REALITY.

Subtitles please !!!

loved it.

steamy sex scenes but light in content

It refreshing to see an honest representation of these boys. They are human and young just trying to make their way in very choppy waters.

Pete says he became an escort for the money. But it's never about the money, is it? It's how you make it. The film suggests a disconnect between his emotional needs and his sexual promiscuity without being judgmental. He obviously loves his friend. But what's the attraction? I don't see it. Love is blind.

I Liked this movie. however Pete did a lot of butt fucking.

I had a really hard time with Pete's accent. I could only make out about 40% of what he was saying, but I did get the gist of it. It was interesting to watch this film, because I recognized it was a launching pad for the director's brilliant "Weekend". This wasn't bad for a first effort.

very interesting

Fascinating world that Escorts live in. I always wondered what it would be like. It also confirmed a fear I had about the pervasiveness of the drugs. And being so young, no one plans for the end of the good times such as Greek Pete was 'attempting' to do.
