This file is also known as "The Model Murder Case".

The late British actor Ian Hendry plays Chief Inspector Birkett who is assigned the case of a murdered amoral beauty. The British character actor Ronald Fraser plays his partner, Sergeant Saunders. While Sgt. Saunders brings a lighter tone to the film he is equally competent as a detective -- no fool he. This film features a slew of great British actors (Jeremy Brett, Kieron Moore, Jane Asher, Rosalie Crutchley, Zena Walker, et.al.) This murder mystery has many twists and turns, since anyone who knew the murder victim seems none too anxious to have the murder solved. I found this to be a very enjoyable film as Birkett and Saunders threaded their way through the various suspects.

Those of a certain age may remember Ian Hendry from the first season of "The Avengers" (1961) as Dr. Keel, John Steeds reluctant partner, before the formidable Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman) and the lithe Emma Peel (Diana Rigg). Sadly, many of the first season episodes of "The Avengers" have been lost forever since no one thought to preserve them.

Jeremy Brett is probably best remembered as Sherlock Holmes on PBS.

This film is well worth your time if you care for the genre.

Smart, stylish, held my interest throughout; surprise ending!

Somebody plugged the nasty model and nobody knows who. Ooops, now drugs are involved and an old Opera diva with a botched throat surgery, an effeminate TV star and other assorted ne'er do wells. The plot gets a bit convoluted but the film runs along very briskly, worth the watch after all. This is one of those fun murder films with a goofy sidekick and a lot of hardy har har .

nice old fashioned movie

Yup loved it.
