Down Clark Street2000

  • 3.5
Tom Palazzolo's love of Chicago is undeniable. He has spent nearly fifty years documenting the city and the people who call it home. Originally from St. Louis, Palazzolo arrived in the Windy City in 1960 to attend the School of the Art Institute, moving to Clark Street in the North Side of Chicago in 1962. Forty years later, Palazzolo returns to the neighborhood where he cut his filmmaking teeth to reminisce and reflect on the area's overhaul from skid row to hot entertainment district. An elegy to a neighborhood gone by, DOWN CLARK STREET highlights the perils of urban renewal and mourns the local color lost when commerce wins out over character. - Tom Fritsche
