A star is nearly born. Karine Teles plays on several registers simultaneously as Bianca, a young woman who takes odd jobs as "characters" like Marilyn Monroe and Carmen Miranda to support her serious theatrical work. A French film director with Big Ideas swoops into Rio and promises a fascinating role to Bianca. Watch the film to find out what happens.
I found this film very timely considering that it's getting harder to see women in substantial roles on the big screen, at least if you live in the States. As noted in the synopsis, the film is set in Rio and Bianca is a "carioca": there is a postcolonial subtext to this story that makes it particularly poignant.
I would have liked to see more details of Bianca's "craft." We see a little of it in her audition for the film-within-the-film and in meetings with the film's crew and at home, and we do see her on stage in a play for a few minutes, but I found that the film spent a bit too much time on her trifling side jobs as street-performer-for-hire and as glamorous Marilyn. Nevertheless I think it's well worth seeing.

I love how this film shows the reality of being an actress - people not respecting your vocation, people stiffing you, people guilt-tripping you, things falling through, missing opportunities b/c you commit to something that then falls through - this is the life of an actress.
Karine Teles - Bianca does a great job i didn't find the film or the story very believable_Bianca isn't really beautiful and doesn't seem all that interesting_sometimes i care & sometimes i don't_but the cinematography is super cool sometimes sometimes great
Karine Teles is the key reason to watch this film. She is amazing.
Beautifully intimate portrait of hopes and realism. Karine Teles is a natural beauty who win your heart.
