Bellflower2011

  • 3.2
Best friends Woodrow and Aiden spend all of their free time building MAD MAX-inspired flamethrowers and muscle cars in preparation for a global apocalypse. But when Woodrow meets a charismatic young woman and falls hard in love, he and Aiden quickly integrate into a new group of friends, setting off on a journey of love and hate, betrayal, infidelity and extreme violence more devastating and fiery than any of their apocalyptic fantasies.

I hated everyone in this movie

that made me laugh

"Bellflower" is what every movie should aspire to be (even if its not perfect): it immerses you completely in its world (a very specific and warped version of Los Angeles, I think?), and the passion of the film maker is palpable (Evan Glodell was the only film maker who could have made this movie, when he made it). Not to mention, it is a solid story told with a unique visual style. This is a must watch to anyone thinking about making a movie independently.

it was interesting, that's for sure. but the ending left me a bit perplexed.... or I'm just dumb ~

terrible

Seriously flawed but hard to dismiss. People who find hipsters hard to stomach may want to avoid. Brilliant cinematography (from a handmade camera, natch!) and surprisingly natural performances and dialogue. It does a brilliant job of capturing a kind of Left Coast bohemia that isn't represented often on film. It starts to take itself a little too seriously and falls apart, but still...this one's worth watching. Really good soundtrack.

Crazy movie. It went to places I did not expect.

Odd and dark. Certainly not for everyone. Well acted with great dialogue. Enjoyed it very much.
