I have now watched this for the fifth time, and I still find many new nuances. It is a marvelous film on so many levels. First, and most importantly, it shows the heroics of true patriots who fight for freedom and for their adopted country, France. Simultaneously it shows the betrayal of the police. It demonstrates the love, on many levels, that the patriots had for each other, their families, and their country. The cinematography is beautiful, the story is compelling and edgy, and the pacing is hypnotic. Many of the finest French actors are represented here, and they all give excellent performances. I don't think anyone will be disappointed unless they come to this with a need for complete historical accuracy. The director makes it clear that he took certain liberties to make for a more entertaining film. Please watch it more than once, only then does the depth of artistry reveal itself.

Touching tale of survival, and bravery, in a nightmarish world, and done so with bravado, style, and fervor. Simply put, A great film
