A glimpse of earth at a turbulent time from the window of an unmanned spacecraft. This mission launched in 1968 the day Martin Luther King was assassinated and immediately experienced bad vibrations causing it to fall into a strange orbit. Its command service module survived and landed 43 miles off target in the waters off Hawai'i 10 hours after its launch.

There's an unexpected slow-boil tension here. Perhaps it's the tiny view through the triangular porthole of the Apollo. Eerie and foreboding. It's like a found footage horror film, except there's no jump scare. Some interesting similarities to note between this old NASA test film and the opening to the original PLANET OF THE APES. Both films seemed to be lost in the stars in the chaotic year of 1968.
