Any Day Now2012

  • 4.5
Winner of ten Audience Awards at film festivals around the country and starring the amazing Alan Cumming, ANY DAY NOW is a powerful tale of love, acceptance and family. When a teenager with Down syndrome is abandoned by his mother, a gay couple takes him in and becomes the loving family he's never had. But when their unconventional living arrangement is discovered by authorities, the men are forced to fight a biased legal system to save the life of the child they have come to love as their own. Inspired by a true story from the late 1970s, ANY DAY NOW touches on legal and social issues that are as relevant today as they were 35 years ago.

A sweet and heartbreaking film that left this father of a Down Syndrome son in tears. The emotions fall on so many levels, and my case is a special case, but anyone that loves a good story and Alan Cumming in drag would love this. Just incredible.

I TRULY ENJOYED THE MOVIE. ROOTY, PAUL, MARCO AND HIS MOM WERE SO BELIEVEABLE. IT WAS VERY WELL ACTED. THOUGH I WAS SAD THAT MARCO DIED AS THE RESULT OF THE JUDGEMENTAL, HOMOPHOBIC PREJUDICE OF THE LAWYER APPOINTED ON MARCO'S BEHALF, THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY WHO HAD PAUL FIRED AND THE POISON OF A SOCIETY WHO SEE HOMOSEXUALY AS A PERVERTED LIFE STYLE. IT IS FUNNY HOW PEOPLE ARE SO QUICK TO QUOTE THE BIBLE THAT SAYS HOMOSEXUALITY IS AN ABOMINATION AGAINST GOD WELL HERE IS A NEWS FLASH SO IS {FORNICATION], HETROSEXUAL SEX OUTSIDE OF MARRIAGE, {ADULTRY} CHEATING ON YOUR SPOUSE. IF YOU'RE GOING TO USE THE BIBLE TO SAY WHAT IS SIN THEN YOU SHOULD USE ALL OF THE WORD NOT JUST THE PART THAT SUPPORTS YOUR HOMOPHOBIC POINT OF VIEW. PEOPLE WAKE UP TO THE WH0LE TRUTH NONE OF US ARE IN A POSITION TO JUDGE. WE ALL HAVE SECRETS IN OUR CLOSETS. I JUST THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THOSE LAST COMMENTS WITH ALL WHO MAY READ THIS REVIEW.

Next time you write spoilers in your review, could you please begin your review with "spoiler alert"....so that you don't give the ending away for those of us who haven't even seen it. Thank you.

As meaningful entertainment, this film is wonderful. Alan Cumming is amazing! All the acting is very good, and technically everything is top notch. The script and/or directing are somewhat exaggerated at times. Emotionally the film is engaging, and feels true.

Great story, too bad the acting was so bad......

This was a really hard movie for me to get over. The film is well done it is just that the narrative is devastating.

This was a gut punch right in the feels. Great film!

Loved it - touching and moving. Alan Cumming is amazing.

really loved this movie..............

this is a very touching story of a sweet downs syndrome teenage child who's mother is a drug addict . A young handsome lawyer meets a very talented drag queen that actually can sing at the bar where she works. In no time all three are living in the lawyers apartment. They lie for custody after Marco, the 12 YO is headed for foster care. The young attorney is outed and the battle begins. Very well cast and The story unfolds with the attorney losing his job. with a bitter-sweet ending. Highly reccomenfed

beautiful, touching, relevant and intelligent film.

Powerful story to remind us that Love doesn't always triumph Prejudice, but it should!
