Patrick Bateman is a Wall Street yuppie, obsessed with success, status and style, with a stunning fiancee. He is also a psychotic killer who rapes, murders and dismembers both strangers and acquaintances without provocation or purpose. Based on the controversial novel, the film offers a sharp satire to the dark side of yuppie culture in the '80s, while setting forth a vision that is both terrifying and chilling.

Masterpiece of Cinema! Saw this on first release and it blew my mind back then, and still packs a punch. Loved the subtle homage to Tati. Heath Ledger owes Christian Bale his best supporting actor Oscar for the Dark Knight. It is so obvious Ledger lifted aspects of his performance from Bale's Patrick Bateman. I'm certain of it!

A confused mess, and not one that ever had much potential, despite the presence of some good actors. The script (like the premise) is as banal as one could hope for: the "look" of the movie is as drab as one could consciously strive to make it, full of low-budget lighting, humdrum camera work, and all around flat direction, wholly unsupported by the consistently hollow dialogue. Blah. Emptiness, fraud and fakery reign, but not in an interesting way. Is it any wonder that the movie seems to capture the zeitgeist of the era pretty accurately?

"Oh my god! It even has a watermark!"
