Altitude Falling2010

  • 2.6
In the year 2029, everyone has been injected with an identification chip originally for medical emergencies which the corporate run government uses to track travel patterns, purchases, political affiliations, relationships and diseases. Greg Forrester perfected this technology but fled to a remote mountain town to escape the world he created. Many lonely years later he meets and falls in love with Danny, a new boy in town who turns out to have important connections to Greg's past. Greg helps Danny get a government job but is devastated to discover he inadvertently recruited his lover into a covert army-assigned suicide mission. The only way Greg can save Danny's life is to destroy his own. Filmed in the Colorado Rockies, ALTITUDE FALLING predicts our future as people willingly sacrifice privacy without regarding the consequences.

In a low-budget independent film, one can sometimes expect something akin to black-box theatre. Few and/or cheap props and settings. That is the case here. But sacrificing environment means upping the ante on acting quality and I think this film falls short there. There are a few moments (brief) where some authentic acting comes to the surface, such as the the scene where Danny and Greg are having a shirtless discussion in the forest after Danny gives him the teddy bear. But outside of these scenes, the acting is flat. At times, it feels intentionally so.

There's also a very mixed plot here. I think the story of love between Danny and Greg gets confused with the story of government surveillance and it's not quite clear what the point is supposed to be. Sometimes the 1984-like plot gets drowned out by the interactions between the characters. There are awkward scenes between the main characters which border on cheap soft-core pornography, without actually going there. Several times in the film, however, I found myself truly believing that what I was watch was going to turn into a porn. At the end of the movie, I wasn't thoroughly convinced of anything whether it was the love between Greg and Danny or the idea that the government was doing evil things. It was all just very flat.

There are also scenes which are just improperly overly done. Such as the scene when the train passes by the back of the house. Some smoke is spewed on screen to create the illusion that the train is going by, but it's entirely unconvincing. Honestly, less is more especially when you're dealing with a low budget. In this particular scene, leaving out the smoke would have been more convincing than leaving it in.

Overall I'd give the film one star for being a film and another star for being watchable (to the end), but a three star film has to be likable and I can't honestly say that I liked the film as a whole or that I'd recommend it to anyone.

Good story idea, but really poor film in every way; seven minutes was all I could take before I bailed.

Mostly poor acting and editing. Interesting storyline but some scenes go on to long. The dystopian premise, though, is a good one and rings true.

THIS MOVIE IS A LOOK AT WHAT IS TO come .. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE STUDY ABOUT WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO AMERICAN SOCIETY.THE WRITERS OF THIS FILM havE CAPTURED THE FUTURE IT IS SCARY IF YOU HAVE ANY RELIGIOUS BACK GROUND KNOW THIS IS THE MARK OF THE BEAST . WELL WRITTEN BY THE PRODUCER AND THE WRITERS IT IS A SCARY LOOK AS TO WHAT IS TO COME IT IS VERY SCARY AND A SHAKE UP . GOOD WORK TO THE INDEPENDENT SCREEN GUILD IT IS A TRIPLE A +++++ to show that is to come very scary . Howard crowe Pittsburgh pa

Badly written, badly acted, badly edited.

Atrocious writing and acting. Unbelievable, unattractive characters. I fast forwarded most of the last half of the movie.

Weak. Poorly acted and directed.

The story really got lost at the end, and the acting was sub-par.

bad made movie

simple film. straight forward production values. directing doesn't show up much and the acting is stilted. could not finish the film.

lousy, uninteresting film with a stupid story claiming to be 'aware' of what's coming. Idiocy on a low budget

Beautiful love story and interesting subject of humans with micro chips.

low budget independent films are often horrible and misdirected. This one was wonderful in how it attempted to create a future image (2029). Wish the love story had been more believable and that the actor could have been a bit less camp (more like the first man in the store). Mother had a definite trouble acting and keeping it believable. Dad too. Loved Grandma and the older/younger couple.

Loved This Show!

Interesting plot but lackluster almost read/flat dialogue.

Wrap a homosexual adult-to-youth love story in a serious discourse on information technology and the current wave of damaging choices towards it's implementation wide-scale, and throw a lil' family drama sauce in there and tighten it all together, you have this, the "Altitude Falling". I loved it!

Sketchy plot, scetchy at best...

I really liked this movie.

The premise was great, but it should've delved a bit deeper into what Society was like in 2029. To see the Gov't and explain more of why people were living like they were. It was okay and I did enjoy it for what it was.

Moved very slow with a flat ending. Kept hoping there was more to the story, but it never happened.

cheesy

this was actually a pretty good movie. i was pleasantly surprised!

Reality is coming faster then we all know.

Interresting,

is it a film of america's future, or of it's recent past? you decide.

Cheaply made film with poor acting . The same lead as in Angora Ranch, who has the same preddeliction: an older, somewhat creepy man seducing a much ,much younger man/boy. There are much better gay themed love stories out there than this.

lame

Very interesting and thoughtful movie. Great acting and wonderful character development. We enjoyed it and also loved the sweet love story. I would say go for it and watch Altitude Falling!

Over all it was a watchable movie. Acting was so-so although Izzy did have some nice moments throughout. Production values were pretty low but it did tell an interesting story. I'm glad I saw it but don't think I'll see it again.

I wouldn't call it brilliant but the actors were appealing and the story interesting. I was bothered by the lack of lip sync and some of the other low budget qualities of the film, but the beauty of the location made up for that.

SLow bordering on tedious at times. Weak acting. Plot twists okay.

Maybe I am a sentimental and syfy lover but I really loved it

I came into this thinking that it would be horrible, and I was pleasantly surprised. Low budget to the max and kinda campy...I enjoyed it.

COCKWARD!!!

Certainly not the best acted movie out there but also not the worst either.

This was a really great movie. i enjoyed it.

I LIKED THIS VIDEO.

Worse than a bad high school play. I truly feel embarrassed for the "actors" in this total abortion. Might have been worth it if they atleast had a butt shot of the cute boy.

Poorly acted, but cute.

The acceptance of gay love was the same as the acceptance of man / women love. The movie moved fairly slowly and the idealistic ending was just a feel good moment.

HORRIBLE

Great movie, very believable.

Another great video. I am beginning to like Paul bright.

editing was bad...acting was sub-par sometimes, but the story line was fabulous.

Loved it

Very interesting concept. Some actors stronger than others. Enjoyed it. Some editing is needed.
