enjoyed this movie of family love between the ageing and the young, nice to see respect...
I loved Alexandra, Sokarov's genius once again leaves the viewers wanting more and more. I find it remarkable, how little Sokurov tells us, while telling us so much. The story's about a mother searching for her son, and when she finds him, at war, amongst his comrades, is very disillusioned at what she see's. The mother finds the conditions her son is working under deplorable, a disgrace , and cannot come to terms with the way in which his life has turned out. Sokarov's brilliance is in making this story so interesting, compelling, seemingly effortlessly .
Only a Russian could understand this one and I speak Russian. Frustratingly odd film...
Loved it!How much she loved her grandson! We need more stories like this about love and respect for family.
This is the kind of thoughtful and thought provoking film that makes my Fandor subscription worth keeping. The role that the guardian-mother plays in Russian society is unnique and well worth exploring.
excellent . . .
