A Colour Box1935

  • 4.3
It is one of the curious quirks of film history that the UK General Post Office is responsible for several masterpieces of cinema. Among them, John Grierson's NIGHT MAIL and this characteristically fizzy Len Lye short, his first camera-less film. Painted directly on film stock, Lye's colors and patterns jump off the screen. It is impossible to imagine another filmmaker turning shipping rates into the stuff of visual music. - Max Goldberg

Amazing use of color. One person's way of going postal without killing anyone.

beautiful!!!!

A whimsical romp! Too bad its post office propaganda. Love, Abe

Rich and textured. A solid quality transfer to video.
