Mich Medvedoff

Mich Medvedoff finds inspiration in the Dutch Graphic Artist, M.C. Escher and his skill to fluster the viewer with fantasy and reality. The longer you stare at his work, the more the lines of reality and fantasy blur together.

Medvedoff embraces filmmaking as her canvass for this expression, often implementing “true story” elements in her work. Her first earnest directorial effort was the television pilot “You’ve Got Spam” in 2004. The pilot was based on her experiences working at an email marketing company (she apologizes for all those emails, BTW). After the Spam thing, Medvedoff directed the documentary Private Eye Candy. This work documented infamous photographer, Bora Soth and the Venice Beach sniper-photo scene of the late 2000s.

Medvedoff's first feature, The Wife Master, was also photographed at Venice Beach. Co-written with frequent collaborator Norith Soth, TWM incorporates snippets of real people, their fetishes, context and Big Bangs all that with some silly nonsense. Her most Escherian copy-cat to date, TWM premiered at the Cambodia International Film Festival and received the “Critics Prize” at Mic Genero Film Festival in Mexico City.

This filmmaker’s interest extends beyond movies. An avid air hockey player, Mich Medvedoff made the A.H. big leagues at the World Air Hockey Tournament in Las Vegas in 2004: pucking her way to a global ranking of #61. Mich was born to film and puck.

The Wife Master

Cheesy movie. The main character was almost believable at the beginning, but the plot lost touch with reality as the movie drug on.
