We're Going to the Zoo
2007
2006
Directed by: Josh Safdie
year: 2005 15 minutes
“For people who wish they could pick up hitchhikers.” Made when director Josh Safdie was still a film student in Boston, WE’RE GOING TO THE ZOO concerns a brother and sister driving hours to the zoo. Without meaning to, they pick up a dapper hitchhiker (played by Safdie) and the encounter brings a little levity to the journey. Safdie’s playful talent is richly apparent in the playacting in public spaces, the undercurrents of sexual tension and the pointless beauty of a roll of paper towels being thrown from a car window.
