Guy is trying to live a simple life during World War II. He resides in a small farmhouse outside a sleepy village in France. He has almost no friends. One day he stumbles across Rolf, an injured German soldier. Guy brings Rolf home and nurses him back to health. While convalescing, a relationship slowly builds between the two men. They frolic naked in the woods and swim in the stream. Thin, boyish Guy is a contrast to the blond, hard-bodied Rolf. A passion stirs between the two young men. Their lives intertwine, each happy to be sheltered until the war asserts itself back into their lives. A celebrated film, though the source materials, (and, thus, the picture quality) are less than ideal, unfortunately.

ive seen a lot of gay love stories but this is the saddest if thats what it was aiming for then its a success the characters are fine tuned and the two guys seen to have a real chemistry for me the girl is out of place she doesnt belong in the film i would give this traggic drama 4 stars
I think this film was very romantic and passionate about falling in love!
Sick movie. Slaughtering of animals not entertainment. Leading young man over the top acting and bad. Rest of cast was okay. Blonde soldier did best her could opposite a bad actor.
Guy was so innocently beautiful. The blond so goldenly beautiful. I don't think I understand how it ended. Looked like the girl betrayed them but immediately before that it looked like she loved them both and they were gonna be a happy threesome. But guy shot the one he loved. I was reminded of the words of Oscar Wilde: "Yet each man kills the thing he loves...."
I hope I live long enuf to see happy endings to gay films. But ultimately, life has NO happy endings. I am reminded also of the Robert Frost poem, NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower,
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief.
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
The Relation of love during a war torn Europe . I review this movie again . finding your soul mate. and having to destroy him. All for the gift of love. for the loss of not being able to have that love. The Drama of this movie I am sure was true in this fiction story . As many of the French covered for their Stray enemies , Again in the end the Lover ends up alone , and for the rest of his life haunted, By the Loss he had to provide for The German enemy , he sheltered loved Deeply, But Knew he would be taken away in the end , So He ended it him self. Sad Drama . They Loved each other. I am sure this story has happened many of times when this war of Hitlers was going on . We just never heard about it because It was another Hidden secret sheltered from the World. Homosexuality was just as strong then as it is today . People just did not talk about it because of the fear it would bring them from their own people. when is it ever going to end . Things are better today for our Gay Military. I just wonder if it is better for the German English and many of the other countries . 3 thumbs up I loved this movie . It made me cry .
moving story ....unfortunatelly the legends do not follow the actors dialogs making it difficult at times to understand the trama
sub-titles were too far behind action to understand parts. That said I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the story but the pic was very poor and not runnung steady.
