Immediately following the 2004 tsunami distaster, Alison and Oscar raced to Sri Lanka with little money or experience and planned to volunteer for two weeks. Along the way, they met up with two other volunteers, Donny and Bruce. Together they found themselves running a refugee camp for over a year. The villagers slowly turned against them as the world's donated aid money never materialized. To survive, they broke every rule in the disaster aid books and a village was reborn. THE THIRD WAVE is a road map for volunteering. In a world of increasing natural and man-made disasters, volunteers are needed. No experience required.
