A gambling kingpin's goal is to be accepted by high society. He leaves his girlfriend for a socialite, is swindled in a scam, then strong-armed by gangsters and ends up as a hood ornament on his jilted lover's sedan! Peter Jenkins directed THE GAMBLER AND THE LADY for Hammer Films (though it was rumored that Terence Fisher had a hand in the production as well). Screenwriter Sam Newfield contributed footage to the release of the film in the United States and is therein listed as a co-director. That seems a bit of an overstatement, however.
