Set in the 1960s, EASY LISTENING is a masterful period piece, with the feel of old happy commercials, Burt makes a living playing trumpet in an elevator music orchestra. At home he's hostage to routine phone calls by his crazy ex and the hefty alimony he owes her. Enter Linda, a fresh-faced flautist with a passion for instrumental pop. Though she is half Burt's age, Burt is smitten and tries to impress her. Linda in turn is impressed by his musical talent and talks him into coaching her as she prepares for the arrival of a professional orchestra scout. It turns out be Linda however who coaches Burt to loosen up and rid himself of misery, bringing out a musical talent in Burt no one else had realized.

Very, very cute film. Sometimes, when we lie to ourselves we begin to live the lie as though it were truth. Depressing as it sounds? It takes quite a friend to pull us back to reality. We fight and in the end find that truth and true friendship are much more fulfilling than our own dreams of grandeur. When we follow our true selves, we soar! I highly recommend this film.

The characters in this film were lovingly pathetic. It was cute, quirky, and at times surprising. It's hard to put into words how it made me feel other than to say that I really enjoyed this film ;)
