We're obsessed with making it easy, even fun, to discover and recommend films from outside the mainstream. Our passion isn't just for great films, but for sharing them. We hunger for that shining moment of discovery, and we savor the sweet satisfaction of experiencing something remarkable. We work here to indulge that passion, and to build something that ignites it in every movie lover. Come help us fan the flames.
A great job in a great city
In 2011, we realized there's an ocean of great independent, foreign, and festival films out there that only a lucky few dedicated movie lovers ever get to take a dip in. That seemed wrong to us.
So we started Fandor. We've grown since then.
Now we've got thousands of subscribers and a globe-spanning library of films that wouldn't be there without our talented, tight-knit team. We work out of an old champagne factory at the foot of the Transamerica Pyramid, San Francisco's most-recognizable building, a stone's throw from the hustle and/or bustle of Chinatown and North Beach. We're saving you a desk.
The full package
We've got you covered: Fandor provides comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance plans for eligible employees and their spouse or domestic partner and dependents and pays covered employees' premiums in full. We also have a flexible vacation policy, an optional commuter benefits program and 401(k) plan, and (of course) a free monthly subscription to our online movie service.
About our engineering culture
We're an agile team of highly skilled individuals working to bring the best indie film experience possible to a growing base of enthusiastic subscribers. Empowered to experiment with novel techniques, we seek out the best methods to deliver a great product for our customers. Each of our full-stack engineers enjoys wide freedom to define features and set strategy, from writing initial stories to deploying to live production servers.
As a streaming independent movie service, every minute of uptime is critical. Our lean development practices enable us to rapidly deploy multiple times a day, with minimal software errors. A heavy emphasis on quality, test-driven code and a studious dedication to the most modern development techniques give Fandor the stability that film-lovers demand in a subscription service.
We're proud of the product and the team that we've built, but we're always growing. With an ever-expanding user base, film library, and suite of platforms, we need skilled developers with solid fundamentals who are prepared to take on a range of challenges in Rails, AWS, iOS, and more.
