We launched our service in 2011 because we believe that there is an audience of movie lovers who want to discover great movies that they currently don’t have easy access to.
Since then, we’ve grown to connect thousands of new subscribers with our every growing film library and have welcomed a cast of truly talented and innovative people to our team. Today we’re a growing, tight knit company with headquarters in an old champagne factory at the foot of San Francisco’s iconic Transamerica Pyramid, on the edge of North Beach and just a stone’s throw from Chinatown. Fandor provides comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance plans for eligible employees and their spouse or domestic partner and dependents and pays covered employees’ premiums in full. Fandor also offers a flexible vacation policy, an optional commuter benefits program and, naturally, a free monthly subscription to Fandor's online movie service.
About our engineering culture
We’re an agile team of highly skilled individuals working to bring the best indie film experience possible to a growing base of enthusiastic subscribers. Empowered to experiment with novel techniques, we seek out the best methods to deliver a great product for our customers. Each of our full-stack engineers enjoys wide freedom to define features and set strategy, from writing initial stories to deploying to live production servers.
As a streaming independent movie service, every minute of uptime is critical. Our lean development practices enable us to rapidly deploy multiple times a day, with minimal software errors. A heavy emphasis on quality, test-driven code and a studious dedication to the most modern development techniques give Fandor the stability that film-lovers demand in a subscription service.
